LITURGY
OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN (LWC)
Open to
children from grades 1-6 only with no registration or tuition
required. Class held in the Parish Center (Room E&F) during the
10:00am Mass and 11:30am Mass in Spanish.

BASIC
FORMATION COURSE
This is
a 28- week session for students ages 6-11.

INTERMEDIATE (ADVANCED) FORMATION COURSE
A 28- week session for students from grades 3 to 6 who have completed
the required two years of catechize (Basic Formation and Sacraments of
Reconciliation and Eucharist).
Topics
covered are developmentally appropriate and classes are divided by
grade level.
3rd
grade deals with the Roman Catholic Faith and the Church. 4th grade
dives into the commandments. 5th grade expands their knowledge of the
seven sacraments. 6th grade studies the Bible.
HOME
STUDY PROGRAM
This is available for students who cannot attend these required
classes due to a conflict in schedules.
In
order to receive credit the student must be officially registered and
issued the approved textbooks and material.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
SACRAMENTS OF RECONCILIATION AND EUCHARIST
Students grades six and below may receive instruction in sacramental
preparation if they meet the following requirements:
Student
must have successfully completed a year of catechesis in Basic
Formation course.
UNBAPTIZED STUDENTS
CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN (CIC):
Unbaptized students of catechetical age (from age 6) must be
registered and successfully completed:
Basic
or Intermediate Formation classes (Note: Basic or Intermediate is
based on age and grade of student)
Sacraments of Reconcilation and the Eucharist
After
the successful completion of these classes, the student will attend
the:
Five
2-hour CIC sessions (on sacramental catechesis), provided by the
Christian Initiation team with, the parents and godparents.
Godparents' attendance is optional. During this period, the student
will be interviewed by the Director of Catechetical Ministry or
pastor.
After
successfully completing all the requirements, the student will
celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and
Eucharist) during the 8:30 A.M. Easter Mass. This policy is mandated
by the Diocese of San Diego.
SPECIAL
SACRAMENT PREPARATION IN LIEU OF HOME STUDY
Students from grades seven and above may request instruction, from a
designated catechist, in sacramental preparation.
Student
and Parents are subject to a preliminary interview given by the DCM
and/or CCM.
Students may concurrently take a course in youth ministry upon
approval from DCM.
Students are required to pass an evaluation interview given by the DCM
and/or CCM at the end of the instruction.
STUDENTS BAPTIZED FROM ANOTHER FAITH
Students requesting to be received in full communion with the Roman
Catholic Church must meet the following requirements.
Successfully completed Basic Formation , Sacraments of Reconciliation
and Eucharist Courses.
Parents
and student must be interviewed by the DCM or a designated person.
Note:
Student can receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist
after acceptance through the profession of faith.

Programa Pre-Escolar (3, 4, y 5 anos de edad)
Los
Domingos de Sept. a Mayo 11:15 AM en el salon #15. Principios basicos
de la fe Catolica, con actividades, juegos y musica para que los ninos
aprendan y se diviertan. Virginia Jimenez, Coordinadora/voluntaria
Liturgia de la Palabra para Ninos (grados 1 al 6)
Los
Domingos en la Misa de 11:30 AM. Antes de la primera lectura, las
catequistas y ninos se forman son bendecidos por el sacerdote
celebrante y salen de la Iglesia hacia el Centro Parroquial donde los
ninos reciben explicacion acerca de las lecturas y el evangelio del
dia al nivel de los ninos. Despues regresa el grupo a la iglesia y los
ninos se reunen con sus familias para el resto de la Misa. Dolores

Educacion Religiosa Elemental (grados 1 al 6)
Cada
Miercoles en el Centro Parroquial de 3:45 a 5:00 PM. Primer ano de
instruccion es Formacion Basica: La creacion, Vida de Jesucristo,
explicacion de los sacramentos y oraciones basicas. En el segundo ano
de instruccion:Preparacion de los sacramentos, Reconciliacion y
Eucaristia o sea primera confesion, primera comunion. Y clases mas
avanzadas para los ninos que han recibido los sacramentos.
Programa de Estudio en Casa
Para
estudiantes que no pueden asistir a clases en el Centro Catequetico,
despues de registrarse ellos reciben un paquete de libros y materiales
para estudiar en casa con la ayuda de un familiar adulto. El progreso
del estudiante sera vigilado por un catequista designado que tambien
le hara pruebas periodicamente.
PREPARACION PARA LOS SACRAMENTOS
Primera
Reconciliacion
Los
ninos se preparan para su primera confesion en el segundo ano de
instrucciones, hay dos grupos y se les asigna segun su grado en la
escuela. Los padres de familia asisten a dos juntas instructivas
acerca del sacramento de la Reconciliacion.
Primera
Comunion
En su
segundo ano de instruccion los estudiantes se preparan para la primera
comunion y son asignados a un grupo segun su grado en la escuela. Los
padres de familia asisten a dos juntas instructivas acerca del
sacramento de la Eucaristia para qu puedan ayudar mejor a sus ninos en
la preparacion de los sacramentos.
Bautizados de otro Fe
Los
estudiantes pueden pedir ser recibidos en completa comunion con la
Iglesia Catolica Romana con la condicion que han completado con exito
dos anos de catequesis (Formacion Basica, y preparacion de los
sacramentos de Reconciliacion y la Eucaristia) los estudiantes y
padres de familia deben ser entrevistados por el Director o un
catequista designado. Despues de completar todos los requistos el
estudiante sera aceptado por medio de la profesion de fe. Los
estudiantes reciben los sacramentos de Reconciliacion y Eucaristia
despues de la preofesion de fe.
Preparacion Especial de los Sacramentos en vez de Estudio en Casa
(Para Grados 7 y mayores)
Estos
estudiantes se preparan por medio del programa Catecumenado para
Jovenes. Instrucciones los Jueves de 6:00 a 9:00 PM en el salon #13.

and Young Adult Ministry for Junior High and High School students is
coordinated by our Parish Youth Minister, Marci Loomis. A full range
of educational experiences is available, information for which can be
obtained by calling the Youth Ministry Office.

(RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS)
- Mary
Armstrong, Coordinator
Prepares adults who wish to join the Catholic Church for admission
into the Church. Non-baptized adults work toward their baptism and
baptized adults of other churches or communions work toward their
profession of faith in the Catholic Church. The RCIA classes meet
every Thursday, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the Retreat Center, with
other expected events throughout the year.
